Punk-rock veterans Social Distortion have released the official music video for "Tonight", a rock ballad taken from their eighth studio album, "Born To Kill". Directed by John Swab and shot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the video depicts a love story starring Johnny Angel Rios-Ness, son of the band's founder Mike Ness, and draws on the song's tribute to Ness's wife of more than three decades, Christine. The release keeps momentum behind an album that critics, including Rolling Stone, have praised as the band's strongest work in years.

"Born To Kill", the group's long-awaited eighth album, was issued on 8 May via Epitaph Records, co-produced by Ness and Dave Sardy with guest appearances from Benmont Tench and Lucinda Williams and cover art by Ness and Shepard Fairey. In an interview with Noise11, Ness explained that personal upheaval — including his elder son's struggles with drugs and alcohol, plus Covid, cancer and other family matters — meant he could not have made the record 15 years ago. He revealed he sifted through more than 40 ideas to select the album's 11 tracks, that two songs date back to the 1996 "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" demos, and that around 30 unused songs remain, hinting at another album soon. The band will tour North America through 3 October in San Diego, with The Descendents and The Chats supporting from 25 August.
