Crunchyroll and Aniplex have greenlit a new theatrical anime film continuing the "Solo Leveling" franchise, with production now underway. The movie, subtitled "Beyond the System," will pick up where the anime's second season concluded and will be animated by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind the "Sword Art Online" series. The film is a joint production involving Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao piccoma and Crunchyroll.

The property originates from a 2016 Korean web novel that evolved into a successful webtoon adaptation before becoming an anime series in early 2024. The anime's rapid expansion to a second season and planned third season by year-end demonstrates the franchise's sustained popularity. Recent commercial performance reinforces this momentum, with the latest published volume becoming Japan's top-selling book during its release week in late June.
