Solos unveils AirGo A6, a 19-gram camera-free smart glasses design

The Verge · 8 hours ago

Solos has unveiled the AirGo A6, a new version of its camera-free smart glasses that swaps any lens for a sleeker, lighter design paired with a voice-controlled AI assistant. At around 19 grams, the A6 is roughly half the weight of last year's AirGo A5 (36 to 40 grams) and considerably lighter than the recently announced Meta Glasses, which weigh 54 to nearly 60 grams. The move highlights a growing market for discreet, everyday smart glasses that prioritise comfort and privacy over built-in cameras.

The weight saving comes largely from slimmer temple arms that house the speakers, batteries and other electronics. The glasses support full prescription lens compatibility and come in several styles, including transparent options that reveal the internal components. Hands-free features include an AI assistant that answers voice queries, real-time translation and calendar reminders, while speakers behind the ears allow music and calls without blocking ambient sound. Pricing and availability are not yet confirmed. Solos also announced privacy accessories for its camera-equipped AirGo V2, including $39 non-powered replacement temples and a clip-on shield that physically blocks the camera, sold in bundles up to $79.

  • Solos' new AirGo A6 smart glasses weigh just 19 grams, half the previous model.
  • Camera-free design offers a voice AI assistant, translation and open-ear audio.
  • Pricing is unconfirmed; new privacy accessories also launch for the camera-equipped V2.
