Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron has revealed that the band's final album, built around unreleased material recorded with late frontman Chris Cornell, is now being mixed and will feature eight songs. Speaking on Dean Delray's "Let There Be Talk" podcast, Cameron said this is likely the last Soundgarden music to feature Cornell's vocals, making the project a significant and emotionally weighted milestone for surviving members Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd as they bring the band's recording career to a close following Cornell's death in 2017.

The material combines guitar and instrumental parts recorded during rehearsals ahead of Soundgarden's 2017 tour with vocals Cornell had laid down on demos the pair exchanged from around 2013 onwards. Producer Terry Date, who worked on the band's "Louder Than Love" and "Badmotorfinger" albums, is overseeing the record, with mixing currently handled by Joe Barresi. No release date has been set, as the band focuses on completing mixing first. Cameron also confirmed he amicably left Pearl Jam in July 2025 to concentrate fully on finishing this Soundgarden project.
