Soundgarden’s long-awaited final album, featuring vocals recorded by the late Chris Cornell, has entered the mixing stage, drummer Matt Cameron has confirmed. The development brings the band closer to completing a project delayed by Cornell’s death in 2017 and a subsequent legal dispute with his estate.

Cameron said the record is expected to contain eight songs with Cornell’s vocals, though no release date has been set. The band had been writing new material before Cornell died, resolved rights issues over unreleased tracks in 2023, and said by late 2025 that the album was nearly finished; guitarist Kim Thayil may also develop remaining instrumental material.
