Reality television figure and former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt says he has met President Donald Trump to advocate for a 25% federal tax credit for US film and television production. The proposal matters because supporters argue it could help bring productions and jobs back to the United States amid competition from overseas incentives, although the legislation has made uneven progress for more than a year.

Pratt posted photographs of the meeting at Trump National Golf Course Los Angeles and said he was committed to “saving Hollywood”; the White House had not commented and his representative declined further comment. Industry groups, unions, the Motion Picture Association and Trump’s Hollywood ambassador Jon Voight have also supported a stackable federal incentive, but sources said Pratt was not believed to be working with their coalition. The concept has bipartisan congressional backing, including from Representatives Laura Friedman and Brian Jack and Senator Adam Schiff, though it is unclear whether Pratt supports the same version of the credit.
