Pratt claimed on X that Clooney, said to have a net worth of $500 million, could have permanently housed eight homeless people for what he spent on his wife's "single-use dress" for a four-hour event, referencing a Page Six report that Amal wore a custom Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford outfit alongside Cartier jewellery costing a combined $374,000. Clooney had told the Venice audience that "people in charge" were fostering fear and praised artists and journalists for resisting authoritarianism, and separately described the current political climate as a "kakistocracy" while expressing hope for change via the November elections.
