"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is on course to top the North American box office for a fourth consecutive weekend, fending off two new releases: horror sequel "Insidious: Out of the Further" and Jason Statham action thriller "Mutiny". The Tom Holland and Zendaya-led Sony film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has already become the fastest movie to reach $800 million domestically and is expected to overtake 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" as the third-highest-grossing film ever in North America, underlining its exceptional staying power late in the summer season.

Sony's "Insidious: Out of the Further" opens in around 3,000 theatres with a projected $23 million weekend, carrying an $18 million budget and a 65% Rotten Tomatoes score; it follows 2023's "The Red Door", which opened to $33 million and grossed $189 million worldwide. Lionsgate's "Mutiny", starring Statham as a framed former Marine, opens in roughly 2,700 locations on a $40 million budget, is tracking for a high single-digit million opening, and holds a 49% critics' score. Other new releases include "The Magic Faraway Tree" and "Spa Weekend", while "Brand New Day", alongside hits like "The Odyssey" and "Toy Story 5", has helped push the 2026 US summer box office total to $4.24 billion.

  • "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" set for fourth straight weekend at No. 1
  • New rivals "Insidious: Out of the Further" and "Mutiny" open smaller
