## Key points

- Giacchino teases an emotionally darker Spider-Man film.
- The score will reflect Peter Parker’s isolation.
- Brand New Day opens in the UK on 29 July.

## Summary

Composer Michael Giacchino says Spider-Man: Brand New Day will explore a more melancholy side of Peter Parker, describing his aim as making “a sad Spider-Man movie”. His comments indicate that the film’s score will reflect the character’s isolation following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, setting an emotional direction for the new instalment.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Giacchino said he discussed simplifying Spider-Man’s musical theme with director Destin Daniel Cretton, removing notes to represent Peter losing parts of his life. In No Way Home, Peter was erased from the memories of MJ, Ned and everyone else; Brand New Day is due for release in the UK on 29 July and in the US on 31 July.
