- Franchise, studio and star box office records broken
- Expected to pass $1bn and top 2026's highest-grossing film

## Summary

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has confirmed a $927 million worldwide opening, standing as the second-biggest global debut in box office history, behind only Avengers: Endgame's $1.22 billion and ahead of Avengers: Infinity War's $640.5 million. Playing on roughly 90,000 screens worldwide, it set a franchise-best global opening for Spider-Man, surpassing No Way Home's $600.5 million, and delivered career-high debuts for star Zendaya, director Daniel Destin Cretton and Sony as a studio, reflecting the film's broad appeal beyond core fans. Sony's original global forecast had been just $425 million, underscoring how far the film outperformed expectations.

International markets contributed $572 million of the total from 66 territories and 73,500 screens, with China topping the list at $121 million, the biggest post-Covid opening for a Marvel title there. All-time opening records fell in numerous markets including France ($26.6 million), India ($31.8 million, the biggest Hollywood opening there), Brazil ($23.8 million), Spain ($15.6 million) and several others across Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. Industry analysts expect the film to pass $1 billion worldwide within days and go on to become 2026's highest-grossing release, overtaking Toy Story 5's $1.065 billion.
