Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still projected to claim a fourth consecutive US box-office weekend victory, despite Insidious: Out of the Further narrowly leading it on Friday. Its estimated $36.5 million weekend would lift its domestic total to $852.4 million, overtaking Spider-Man: No Way Home and making it the third-highest-grossing film in US box-office history.
Insidious: Out of the Further took $10.6 million on Friday, including previews, and is forecast to open with $23.7 million from 3,330 cinemas; it cost $18 million to produce. Jason Statham’s Mutiny earned $2.8 million on Friday and is expected to take $7.4 million over the weekend from 2,600 cinemas, against a $40 million budget, while Universal’s The Odyssey is estimated to finish third with $18.5 million.
