Spotify has expanded its Music Quiz trivia feature to cover more than 2,000 artists, broadening from its initial launch celebrating K-pop band BTS earlier this year. The feature allows listeners to test their knowledge through questions about music trivia, album cover art and audio track previews spanning an artist's music, career and defining moments, with the ability to share results with friends. This interactive offering strengthens Spotify's position as a platform that goes beyond passive listening.

The Music Quiz feature is rolling out today for Premium subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Nigeria, South Africa and Indonesia, with content launching in English. Users can access quizzes from the Music Quiz card on the Now Playing view for any participating artist. Spotify's Music Quiz is a trivia game that lets listeners test their knowledge of artists and their music. Players answer questions about song trivia, album artwork and audio clips relating to an artist's career, hits and defining moments. They can share their results with friends.

The feature is part of Spotify's strategy to keep listeners engaged with the platform beyond simply playing music. Streaming services compete intensely to maintain active, engaged users, and interactive features like this help differentiate Spotify from its rivals. The company has previously launched similar engagement tools such as its year-end Wrapped reports and artist information features.

The Music Quiz launched this year with a focus on the K-pop group BTS before expanding to cover more than 2,000 artists. The feature is available to Premium subscribers across major markets including the UK, US and other English-speaking regions, with plans to add additional languages and artists in future.
