Spotify promotes Joe Hadley to VP of Global Music Content, Partnerships; J.J. Italiano named Head of Editorial

Music Business Worldwide · 10 hours ago

Spotify has promoted Joe Hadley to Vice-President of Global Music Content and Partnerships, placing its editorial and music-partnership functions under his leadership. J.J. Italiano becomes Head of Editorial, reporting to Hadley, in a restructuring intended to connect Spotify’s music teams while retaining editorial independence. The changes matter because editorial programming and industry partnerships influence how artists and music are presented to Spotify’s global audience.

Hadley joined Spotify in 2022 after roles at CAA and The Windish Agency, and previously led global music partnerships and audience strategy. Italiano succeeds into the editorial leadership structure roughly three months after former global editorial head Sulinna Ong left for U2’s management team; the move continues Spotify’s centralisation of music functions begun in 2024. Spotify closed the second quarter of 2026 with 777 million monthly active users and 300 million Premium subscribers.

  • Hadley now leads Spotify’s editorial and music-partnership teams.
  • Italiano becomes Head of Editorial and reports to Hadley.
  • The reshuffle continues Spotify’s centralisation of music operations.
