Spotify turns its RNB X playlist into a Dallas festival with Live Nation Urban, and will stream select performances exclusively
Spotify and Live Nation Urban are launching RNB X Live: Dallas, a one-day R&B festival on 1 November at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, headlined by Erykah Badu and H.E.R. The event marks Spotify's first standalone R&B concert and the biggest live extension yet of its RNB X editorial playlist, reflecting the streaming giant's deepening push into live music through its partnership with Live Nation, with whom it also struck a multi-year deal in May covering the ticket-reservation feature "Reserved".
The 8,000-capacity venue is booked and promoted exclusively by Live Nation, with Dallas native Badu appearing shortly after releasing her joint album with The Alchemist, and H.E.R. making a rare live return after years away from headline shows. Rising acts kwn, Destin Conrad and Jai'Len Josey, plus local opener rjtheweirdo, complete the bill. Spotify says its live music initiatives have generated over $1.5 billion in artist ticket sales to date, and that "super listeners" – the top 2% of an artist's monthly audience – drive half of all ticket sales through the platform.
