Amazon MGM is developing a feature film based on the Squishmallows toy brand, partnering with creator Jazwares and producer Beau Flynn’s FlynnPictureCo. The project aims to become a global family event film, extending a highly successful collectibles franchise into cinema, though its format and creative team have not yet been announced.

Launched in 2017, Squishmallows has become a billion-dollar brand sold in 60 countries, with more than 600 million toys sold and an estimated two sold every second. Its range includes over 3,000 characters and has expanded into licensed products such as clothing, beauty items and home décor; Flynn’s previous work includes “Moana”, “Jungle Cruise” and the forthcoming “Hello Kitty” film.
