Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor Rhys Darby, who plays the godlike alien Trelane, has said he'd like to take on the role of Q in a future James Bond film, arguing his experience playing a similar trickster character on the sci-fi series makes him a natural fit. Speaking to Polygon about Trelane's return in season four, Darby noted the character has become more mature this time round, working under the guidance of the Q Continuum rather than acting purely as a mischievous troublemaker, before turning the conversation to future projects he'd like to be part of.

In the interview, Darby also discussed the long-delayed werewolf spin-off We're Wolves, revealing that creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are "back in the writing chair" and that he expects an update before Christmas 2026. He additionally floated the idea of his Trelane character crossing over into medical drama The Pitt, joking he could use his time-manipulating powers to ease the workload of its overworked hospital staff. Darby also stars in the upcoming Jumanji: Open World, which has been moved from 11 to 25 December to avoid clashing with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three.
