Star Trek Is Officially Giving Seven of Nine the Adventure Fans Wanted
IDW Comics is launching a new Star Trek series that effectively continues the proposed Star Trek: Legacy storyline, placing Seven of Nine in command of the USS Enterprise-G. The comic gives fans the post-Star Trek: Picard adventure they had hoped to see on screen, after a television continuation failed to materialise despite support from its cast, crew and fan campaign.
Written by Christopher Cantwell and illustrated by Dennis Menheere, the series sends Seven and her crew beyond the galaxy through the newly discovered Epsilon Corridor to investigate habitable worlds and help alien refugees settle there. The crew includes Sidney La Forge, Jack Crusher, Alexander and a descendant of Hoshi Sato, alongside new characters; their mission may also leave them returning to a changed galaxy. The first issue arrives on 23 September as part of Star Trek’s 60th-anniversary celebrations, with comic-shop reservations advised before 17 August.

Seven of Nine is a former Borg drone who became a central character in Star Trek: Voyager and later returned in Star Trek: Picard. At the end of Picard, she was made captain of the newly commissioned USS Enterprise-G, one of Starfleet’s most famous ships.
Some of the people behind Picard had hoped to continue her story in a follow-up series called Star Trek: Legacy. That television project was never made, despite public support from cast members and fans, leaving Seven’s new command unexplored on screen.
The new comic series picks up that premise, following Seven and a mixed crew of familiar and new characters on a long-range Starfleet mission. Its setting also draws on Star Trek’s broader idea of Starfleet as an organisation that explores space, makes contact with other societies and offers humanitarian help.
