Star Trek Officially Returns to Theaters With William Shatner
A new Star Trek documentary executive produced by William Shatner will receive a limited theatrical release at Regal Cinemas from 9 October. The release marks the franchise’s 60th anniversary and represents Star Trek’s first cinema appearance since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, although it is not the long-awaited new Paramount feature film.
The Sixty-Year Mission: How Star Trek Changed Television And The World examines the creation and production of Star Trek: The Original Series. It includes interviews with surviving original cast members Shatner, George Takei and Walter Koenig, while selected screenings will also feature Q&A sessions with Star Trek contributors; separately, Nacelle’s documentary series The Center Seat is returning online this autumn.
