The J.J. Abrams-produced Star Trek reboot trilogy has begun streaming on Peacock, arriving just ahead of the franchise's 60th anniversary on Star Trek Day. The move gives subscribers access to a key chapter of the franchise shortly after Peacock raised its subscription prices, and comes as Star Trek marks six decades since Gene Roddenberry's original series first aired in 1966, having since spawned numerous spin-off shows and films.

The three films — 2009's Star Trek, 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness and 2016's Star Trek Beyond — launched on Peacock on Tuesday, 1 September, roughly a week before the anniversary date of 8 September. Abrams directed the first two instalments before moving to Star Wars, with Justin Lin taking over for the third, which underperformed at the box office and has contributed to a long delay in producing a further sequel. Despite being billed as a "reboot", the trilogy remains linked to the original timeline through the "Kelvin Timeline" device involving George Kirk, father of James T. Kirk.
