‘Star Wars’ Comes to 2027 Super Bowl With Animated ‘Alterna-Cast’ for Disney Channel, XD, Disney+

Disney will show *Star Wars Funday Football*, a live animated version of Super Bowl LXI, across Disney+, Disney Channel, Disney XD and the ESPN App on 14 February 2027. C-3PO, voiced in the films by Anthony Daniels, will feature as the game is recreated with animated players and Star Wars characters, expanding Disney’s range of ways to watch the event.

The animation will use NFL Next Gen Stats player tracking and Sony Hawk-Eye optical tracking to turn each play into animation in real time. Disney plans five other Super Bowl productions across its platforms, including Pat McAfee’s commentary show, a ManningCast, a statistics-focused programme and a Spanish-language broadcast. The game is five days before Lucasfilm’s restored 1977 *Star Wars* film returns to cinemas for the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
