*Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope* will return to cinemas on 19 February 2027 in a newly restored version of its original theatrical cut, marking the franchise’s 50th anniversary. The release will coincide with the film’s first IMAX screening and comes as Industrial Light & Magic develops an immersive virtual-reality version, offering audiences a new way to experience the landmark science-fiction film.

The Disney Immersive Cinema project will preserve the film itself while extending selected moments beyond the screen into viewers’ surroundings. It is being developed for Meta VR Glasses and Meta Quest 3 and 3S, with Meta VR Glasses due in spring 2027 at $1,299.99; the project is also among the first titles announced alongside *Avengers: Infinity War*.
