The designers of Star Wars: Unlimited, Fantasy Flight Games' trading card game, have pushed back on suggestions that the title is losing steam, insisting they already have new sets planned well into 2028 and are beginning to brainstorm for 2029. The reassurance comes amid genuine concerns about the game's staying power, including Star Wars' diminished cultural dominance, free digital alternatives like Karabast undercutting local game stores, and premium "carbonite" packs eroding the value of standard boosters. Senior design lead Danny Schaefer and designer John Leo addressed the criticism directly at the Galactic Championship tournament in Las Vegas, where several new sets were unveiled.

Schaefer described Unlimited as Fantasy Flight Games' "forever game" — the title the company intends to keep supporting indefinitely as a core part of its output. Four new sets, or six including the Twin Suns mini-sets, are already planned for 2027, with further qualifier events scheduled throughout the rest of 2026. Both designers said they remain committed to proving doubters wrong, framing the game's long-term roadmap as evidence it is far from winding down.
