## Key points

- Starz is adapting Lauren Palphreyman’s romantasy novel *The Wolf King*.
- The story centres on a princess, werewolves and a brewing conflict.
- The article sees it as a potential successor to *Outlander*.

## Summary

Starz is developing a screen adaptation of Lauren Palphreyman’s romantasy novel *The Wolf King*, which the article presents as a possible successor to *Outlander*’s blend of romance, historical setting and Scottish scenery. The move reflects broadcasters’ interest in adapting popular romantasy books, and gives Starz another love story with supernatural elements after *Outlander* ended.

The story follows Aurora, a princess promised in marriage to secure a political alliance. After she saves a captured young werewolf from a fight to the death, the alpha Callum takes her north, where wolf clans are organising amid a brewing conflict. Aurora becomes caught between her growing attraction to Callum and the more mysterious wolf Blake; the article also notes that *Outlander* prequel *Blood of My Blood* continues that franchise.
