Stephen Curry opens up about possibly teaming up with LeBron James, which was once a ‘pipe dream’

Fox News · 1 month ago

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has spoken publicly about the prospect of joining forces with long-time rival LeBron James, a possibility he once regarded as fanciful. James has announced he is leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency after nine seasons, and the Warriors have emerged as one of the teams in the running to sign him. Speaking at his American Century Championship media availability on Thursday, Curry said that "if LeBron says he wants to play for you, you move mountains to get him," all but confirming Golden State are in the "mix" of suitors.

Curry and James contested the NBA Finals against one another for four consecutive years from 2015 to 2018, with Curry winning three titles to James's one, in what became one of basketball's greatest rivalries. Their relationship shifted after they won Olympic gold together for the United States in Paris in 2024, turning a once-unthinkable partnership into a realistic prospect. Curry, entering his 18th season, noted that pairing with James, heading into his 24th, would make "such a unique story in NBA history," though he cautioned it was "a little premature" to discuss further. Betting odds reportedly favour the Cleveland Cavaliers to land James, with the Miami Heat and Warriors also named as possibilities.
