Steven Julien Unveils New Album ‘808 Prince’

Clash ·

London producer Steven Julien has released *808 Prince*, a 10-track album on his own Apron Records. Built around the sounds of Roland’s TR-808 and TR-1000 drum machines, it draws on the shared history of techno, house, acid house, grime and electro.

The album follows the singles ‘60SS’ and ‘LOST’, which takes a classic-house direction. Other tracks include the Detroit-techno-influenced ‘TTT’, rap collaborations with James Massiah and J. Caesar on ‘T2’ and ‘LIME’, and the funk-led ‘DRIVE’, featuring Jarren and KIAH. Apron Records is marking the release with a launch party at Radial in North London.
