Steven Spielberg's 1991 fantasy film Hook, one of his most divisive works, is receiving a limited-edition 4K Ultra HD SteelBook release from Sony on 17 November to mark its 35th anniversary. The film reimagines J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan story, with Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan who must rediscover his childhood self after his children are kidnapped by Dustin Hoffman's Captain Hook, and it has long split opinion between devoted fans and critics who found it overstuffed and overly sentimental.

The new edition has been restored from the original camera negative in 4K with Dolby Vision picture and English Dolby Atmos sound. Its main draw for collectors is the bonus material, including a new hour-long documentary, Hook: Never Never Ending, featuring previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage, Spielberg's own home movies, and interviews with Spielberg, Williams, Hoffman and Julia Roberts. Although a box-office hit and five-time Oscar nominee in 1991, the film received a mixed critical reception that has persisted, even as it built a loyal following among those who grew up watching it.
