Steven Wilson, former Porcupine Tree musician, has announced his ninth studio album 'Requiem For A Village', set for release on November 6 via Fiction Records. The album represents a deliberate rejection of modern production techniques, with Wilson eschewing AI and digital correction tools in favour of live, organic instrumentation. The record features narration written by Andy Partridge of XTC and voiced by actor David Tennant, marking a return to music that emphasises human imperfection and authenticity.

Wilson explained his approach as an attempt to capture "metaphorical thumbprints" in the music through unpredictable analogue synths, deliberately untuned instruments, and his own playing of instruments he doesn't formally know, such as violin, oboe and drums. The 12-track album follows 'The Overview' from 2025 and reflects Wilson's broader commitment to human-centred, imperfect musicianship over technological precision.
