Streaming Ratings: ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Takes Over Top Spot

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie remake became the most-watched streaming title in the United States during 13–19 July, ending Love Island USA’s run at the top after its season finale. Its rise highlights strong early audience interest in the new series, which was the week’s only original programme to exceed one billion viewing minutes.

Little House recorded 1.18 billion minutes watched, a 27 per cent increase on its premiere week, while Netflix’s Will Ferrell golf comedy The Hawk launched with 999 million minutes. Prime Video’s Ride or Die debuted with 869 million, and Love Island USA remained fifth among originals with 596 million. Acquired series The Big Bang Theory and SpongeBob SquarePants both passed one billion minutes and set record weekly totals, while Project Hail Mary led films for a third week with 699 million minutes; Nielsen’s figures cover US television-set viewing only.

  • Little House on the Prairie led US streaming with 1.18 billion minutes.

Little House on the Prairie is a new Netflix version of a well-known American family story, originally based on books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It follows the Ingalls family as they make a life in the American Midwest during the late 19th century; earlier television adaptations helped make the story familiar to several generations of viewers.

Streaming ratings measure how much time people spend watching programmes on services such as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+. Nielsen is a US company that tracks viewing on television sets, so its figures do not include every way people may watch, such as on phones or computers.

The weekly rankings include new programmes, returning series and older shows made available through streaming libraries. Viewing-minute totals can reflect both the number of people watching and how many episodes they watch, which means longer series can build large totals quickly.
