Strictly Come Dancing’s major 22nd-year revamp has failed to deliver the hoped-for ratings boost, while viewers have reacted negatively to its new presenting lineup and launch-show format. Fans questioned the need for three hosts—Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe—and some said they preferred the former pairing of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The launch show peaked at 5.8 million viewers, slightly above last year’s 5.6 million, but averaged 5.3 million after viewers switched off, down from 5.4 million in 2025. Viewers also criticised the musical-chairs-style partner reveal and said they recognised few of the contestants, although the cast includes Dani Dyer, Bethany Antonia, Delta Goodrem, Lacey Turner, Dame Sarah Storey and Melanie Walters, alongside five new professional dancers.
