A student opened fire outside a high school in Turgutlu, in Turkey’s western Manisa province, injuring at least eight people, including pupils. Two victims were reportedly in a critical condition, while the suspected gunman was arrested shortly afterwards; the motive remains unknown.

The shooting was reported at 07:59 local time, prompting police and medical teams to attend the Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. It follows two deadly school shootings in Turkey in April, which together killed 14 people, including the perpetrators, and injured 29 others, leading to tighter security measures and gun controls for the 2026–27 academic year.
