A 21-year-old substitute teacher in Indiana, Cassidy Carter, has been sentenced to two years' imprisonment after pleading guilty to sending nude photographs of herself to a 14-year-old middle school pupil. Carter, who worked at South Dearborn Community School Corporation, was reported to have sent the images to the boy every time she took a shower, highlighting a serious safeguarding breach involving an adult in a position of trust and a child.

According to court records cited by WXIX, the relationship began in November 2023 after the pair became friends on Snapchat, with Carter sending nude photographs late at night and telling the boy she was in love with him. The matter came to light on 1 December 2023 when the pupil reported it to a school resource officer, who alerted the principal. Investigators searching the teenager's phone found several messages and nude pictures of Carter. She was initially charged with child-related offences but ultimately pleaded guilty to battery resulting in moderate bodily injury.
