## Key points

- Sheffield United are discussing a deal for Rabbi Matondo.
- Wilder rates the winger’s ability to beat defenders.
- Medical checks are part of the ongoing assessment.

## Summary

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says the club are in discussions about signing Rabbi Matondo after the Welsh winger continued his trial period with the Blades. The update matters because United are looking to strengthen their wide options, and Matondo’s performances in pre-season have given Wilder a chance to assess whether he fits the squad.

Matondo, 25, is contracted to Norwegian club Brann but has been allowed to explore a move after being told he is not part of its plans. He has featured as a substitute in several United friendlies, including the win over Rotherham United, and Wilder described him as an exciting player capable of beating opponents. Wilder also said the club is considering Matondo’s medical history while talks continue, with no agreement yet confirmed.
