The Power of 3, a new rock supergroup comprising guitarist Orianthi, drummer Cindy Blackman Santana and bassist Rhonda Smith, has announced its self-titled debut album. Due on 11 December through She2Music, the release is previewed by two singles, “War in the Streets” and “Treat Me Like a Lady”, and marks a collaboration between three established musicians.

“War in the Streets” is described as a Hendrix-influenced blues-rock track built around the trio’s interplay, with a prominent bass line, energetic drumming and a closing Orianthi guitar solo. Orianthi is known for work with Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper; Blackman Santana has performed with Carlos Santana, Pharoah Sanders and John McLaughlin; and Smith has played extensively with Prince and Jeff Beck. Orianthi said the group is eager to perform live, describing it as “a real band”.
