A man suspected of driving under the influence led San Diego police on a chaotic pursuit that ended with a dramatic arrest on the sand at Pacific Beach on Sunday morning. Officers had been alerted to reckless driving in the area before the chase spilled onto the beach, where startled onlookers watched police move in and detain the suspect near the water's edge. The incident highlights the risks posed by impaired and reckless driving in busy public spaces, though officials confirmed no one was hurt.

Police said they began receiving reports just before 7:30am of a man in a tan or gold Nissan Frontier doing donuts in car parks and nearly striking vehicles and a wall. After two aborted pursuits due to the driver's alleged "wanton disregard" for safety, officers used a helicopter to track the truck as it drove onto the beach. The driver, named as 25-year-old Griffin Charles Foy, surrendered with his hands raised and was arrested without incident, later being booked on charges including felony evading police and driving under the influence of drugs.
