## Key points

- Sheffield Wednesday are looking for a successor to Henrik Pedersen.
- Dave Challinor is an early favourite.
- Several other candidates could be considered.

## Summary

Sheffield Wednesday are seeking a new manager after Henrik Pedersen was dismissed, and the appointment will be the first major football decision for the club’s new regime. The article says former Stockport County manager Dave Challinor is an early favourite, in part because of his past working relationship with sporting director Simon Wilson, but the choice is far from settled.

Other potential candidates include Paul Heckingbottom, Gary Rowett, Ryan Mason, Gerhard Struber, Liam Manning, Luke Williams and Matt Bloomfield. The club could also consider managers currently in jobs, such as Paul Warne or Tom Cleverley, though compensation may be affected by the club’s EFL business plan restrictions; the article expects the search to move quickly, with a long caretaker spell considered unlikely.
