Switch 2 Just Got One of The Best Zelda-likes in Years
Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, a well-regarded top-down "yoyovania" praised as one of 2025's best hidden gems, has just launched on Nintendo Switch 2. It arrives as a timely stand-in for fans awaiting more news on Nintendo's Ocarina of Time remake, offering a fresh take on the Zelda-style adventure formula while Nintendo stays quiet on that bigger project.
The game casts players as Pippit, a blue bat drawn into corporate warfare after his family's business is attacked, using a yoyo that doubles as sword, boomerang and hookshot to explore an urban, Metroidvania-style setting of alleyways, parks and corporate headquarters rather than the usual fantasy landscapes. The Switch 2 version, developed by Pocket Trap, supports 120fps at 1080p in handheld mode and 4K with HDR when docked, and owners of the original Switch release get the upgrade free of charge.
