US sales firm Mavryk has acquired worldwide rights to And Her Body Was Never Found, an experimental thriller that premiered at SXSW this year, ahead of its sales push at the Toronto International Film Festival market. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Polaris Banks, who co-wrote and co-stars in the project alongside co-writer Mor Cohen, and its acquisition signals confidence that the distinctive genre film can find buyers seeking original horror-thriller material.

The story follows married couple Jeff and Keren, who travel into the wilderness to mend their strained relationship, only for a seemingly offhand comment about an accident to tip the film into darker, genre-bending territory. Hilarion Banks, Polaris Banks and Mor Cohen produce, with Tristan Barr, Josh Doke, Jonathan Barkan and David Gim as executive producers. Mavryk's Mavryk founder Greg Bekkers said all rights are available and he expects the film to travel widely, and it joins a TIFF slate that also includes the Connie Nielsen thriller Follow Me and All Happy Families starring Josh Radnor.
