Sydney train chaos: Passengers trapped and power is cut off after overhead wire comes down
An overhead power wire reportedly fell near Redfern station in Sydney, bringing several trains to a halt and leaving passengers trapped on board. The incident disrupted a key part of the city’s rail network during Friday travel, with emergency teams working to release those affected.
Power was switched off between Central and Newtown, affecting T2, T3 and T8 services. At least three trains were reported to have passengers awaiting assistance; no injuries or cause of the wire failure were stated.
