Douglas Lyons’ Table 17 is a warm, lively romantic comedy about exes Jada and Dallas, who reunite over dinner to confront past betrayals and consider rekindling their relationship. Its shifting timeline, quick humour and emotional sincerity make it entertaining and crowd-pleasing, although its relationship drama is less substantial than some comparable two-hander plays.

Marisha Wallace and Jamael Westman give charismatic, energetic performances, while Michael Rishawn nearly steals the show as a restaurant host with an intriguing backstory. Zhailon Levingston’s direction adds flair through nostalgic music, sharp lighting, freeze-frames, rapid costume changes and Amy Jane Cook’s revolving neon-lit set; the production runs at London’s Kiln Theatre until 24 October.
