The nominations for the 40th annual ARIA Awards have been announced, with psychedelic pop act Tame Impala and genre-defying artist Genesis Owusu each securing eight nominations to lead the field. The ceremony celebrates four decades of Australian music excellence and will take place on 18 November at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion, with ARIA leadership emphasising the awards as a moment to recognise music's enduring cultural significance amid ongoing copyright concerns regarding foreign AI companies.

Tame Impala's nominations follow the success of their fifth studio album *Deadbeat*, whose lead single "Dracula" has spent 18 weeks in Australia's national top 10, peaking at number 4. Genesis Owusu leads with nominations including album of the year for his third album *REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE*, whilst Ecca Vandal follows with seven nominations for her sophomore album *Looking For People to Unfollow*. Additional strong showings come from Baker Boy, BOY SODA, G Flip, Miss Kaninna and Ninajirachi with five nominations each. Four public voting categories—best Australian live act, song of the year, best video and most popular international artist—are open to fans via Spotify and the official ARIA website from 24 September to 9 November.
