## Key points

- Tame Impala gave Seal’s 1994 ballad a synth-driven makeover.
- Kevin Parker said it was on the first CD he bought.
- The session also featured “Dracula”, a major chart hit.

## Summary

Tame Impala covered Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose” for triple j’s Like A Version, recasting the 1994 ballad as a stripped-back, synth-driven performance. The session matters to frontman Kevin Parker because the song appeared on the first CD he bought, the *Batman Forever* soundtrack, and it arrives during the band’s most successful year.

The band also played a pared-down version of its hit “Dracula”, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 after a remix with Jennie and topped several other charts. This was Tame Impala’s fourth Like A Version cover; their album *Deadbeat* leads the upcoming ARIA Awards with eight nominations, while Seal’s original topped the Hot 100 in 1995 and won three Grammys.
