HBO's crime drama "Task" has added six actors to its Season 2 cast, expanding the ensemble around returning star Mark Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, who leads a new task force in the upcoming season. The series, created by Brad Ingelsby and set in the working-class suburbs outside Philadelphia, follows law enforcement efforts to track down family members and associates entangled in criminal activity, with Season 2's plot centring on an operation where it becomes increasingly unclear who the actual target is.

The new additions are Tim Blake Nelson as Denny Coughlin, a rule-bending career cop joining Brandis' task force; Jharrel Jerome as Jordan Barnes, son of established character Eddie Barnes (Mahershala Ali); Brían F. O'Byrne as Charlie Boylan, a retired DEA agent and mentor figure; Bethlehem Million as Lisa Barnes, Eddie's daughter; Kevin Dunn as Vince Runyan, Brandis' no-nonsense FBI boss; and Andrew Russel, who reprises his role as Brandis' son Ethan. They join a returning cast that includes Julianne Nicholson, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis and Martha Plimpton, with Ingelsby serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Ruffalo and others.
