Taylor Frankie Paul Confirms She Got Engaged on Pulled ‘Bachelorette’ Season, Reveals What Happened After Filming

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Taylor Frankie Paul has revealed she got engaged during her cancelled stint as ABC's Bachelorette, along with what happened once filming ended. In a clip from the upcoming fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Paul tells castmates Jessi Draper, Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley that she was proposed to and accepted, but after returning home to Utah she resumed contact with her ex-partner Dakota Mortensen, who came to see her. The disclosure matters because it fills in details ABC's abandoned season never aired, tying together speculation about Paul's final pick and her rekindled relationship with Mortensen.

ABC pulled Paul's Bachelorette season just three days before its planned 22 March premiere after TMZ released footage connected to her 2023 arrest following an altercation with Mortensen, to whom she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in a plea deal. Castmates noted her reported final choice, Doug Mason, shared similarities with Mortensen, including initials and both being from Idaho. Utah authorities subsequently investigated fresh domestic violence allegations involving the pair in early 2026, but the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office declined to file new charges in April. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season five, whose production was also briefly halted amid the fallout, is now set to premiere on Hulu on 10 September.
