Taylor Sheridan's Bosque Ranch Productions and David Glasser's 101 Studios have acquired two feature film scripts, Visalia and Capture the Flag, from producer Andrew Lauren, who worked on Oscar-winning film The Brutalist. The deal matters because it marks a fresh push by Sheridan back into cinema even as his television empire, built on Yellowstone and its spin-offs, continues to expand, and because Sheridan himself had a hand in writing both scripts years before he became one of the industry's most prominent creators.

Lauren originated both projects and enlisted several writers over the years, including Sheridan, who worked on the drafts before his rise to fame. Visalia, previously titled Mojito, follows a young Cuban woman fleeing to America who is later pulled back by a political shift; Capture the Flag centres on a NASA engineer racing to build a reusable spacecraft with backing from a tech tycoon. Bosque Ranch, 101 Studios and Lauren will produce both films, with Sheridan set to take a more hands-on role in their development. Lauren, son of designer Ralph Lauren, has previously worked on The Squid and the Whale, The Spectacular Now and Vox Lux, while Sheridan is also revisiting an older script for Warner Bros' F.A.S.T., due in cinemas in April 2027.
