Paramount+'s neo-western drama Landman, created by Taylor Sheridan, is preparing to return for a third season after two well-received outings, prompting comparisons to HBO's Succession for its focus on the power struggles within a wealthy, dysfunctional family. Sheridan, already behind hits including Yellowstone, 1923 and Tulsa King, continues to dominate the streamer's output, with Landman standing out for its starry cast and morally complicated central figure.

The series stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a "landman" who acts as crisis manager and go-between for oil company M-Tex, negotiating between his boss Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) and landowners in West Texas.
