Screenwriter and director Taylor Sheridan has revealed that buying the sprawling Four Sixes Ranch in Texas for $330 million derailed his plans to retire, prompting him instead to sign an exclusivity deal with Paramount. Speaking on the "Rodeo Time" podcast, the 56-year-old, best known for creating "Yellowstone" and its spin-offs, explained that the scale of the purchase meant he needed to keep working rather than step back from the industry as he had intended.

Sheridan already owned property in Texas before adding the historic Four Sixes Ranch to his holdings, a working cattle ranch that has since featured in his television projects. The financial commitment tied to the deal effectively locked him into continued creative output, culminating in an exclusive agreement with Paramount that keeps him producing content for the studio rather than winding down his career.
