## Summary

Paramount's upcoming "Call of Duty" film, written by Taylor Sheridan and directed by Peter Berg, will be set within the "Modern Warfare" strand of the video game franchise. Berg confirmed the news at a fan panel promoting "Modern Warfare 4" at Fanatics Fest in New York, ending months of secrecy since the project was first announced in September 2025. It is the first concrete detail released about the film, tying it to one of the series' most enduring storylines and coming as Activision, now under Xbox, pushes further into film and TV adaptations of its games.

"Modern Warfare" began with "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" in 2007, shifting the franchise away from its original World War II setting to a modern conflict largely based in the Middle East, centred on Captain John Price, Task Force 141 and their pursuit of terrorist Vladimir Makarov. The story continues this autumn with "Modern Warfare 4", which depicts a war breaking out between North and South Korea. The still-untitled film is set for release on 30 June 2028, produced jointly by Paramount and Activision, with the wider deal—struck under new Paramount owner Skydance—leaving room to expand the "Call of Duty" universe further across film and television.
