Taylor Sheridan’s Empire Is Under Attack from Paramount’s 10/10 Spy Thriller

Collider · 2 months ago

An unnamed star-studded spy thriller on Paramount+ has returned for a second season to markedly better reviews and stronger viewership, positioning it as a genuine rival to Taylor Sheridan's dominant slate of Paramount+ dramas. Though the first season aired in 2024 to mixed notices and a limited audience despite high production values and an A-list cast, both critical reception and ratings have improved this time around, making the show a notable challenger on the domestic viewership charts.

The second season premiered on 21 June, and unlike the weekly rollout of the first season on Showtime, the new episodes were released all at once under a Paramount+ original branding. This pits the series directly against Sheridan's blockbusters, including Yellowstone, Landman, Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown. Dutton Ranch, the latest instalment in the Yellowstone franchise, currently tops the streamer's charts, with Nielsen reporting that its viewership has risen with each new episode since its 15 May premiere.

  • A Paramount+ spy thriller's improved second season is challenging Sheridan's dominance.
  • Season two dropped all at once on 21 June as a Paramount+ original.
  • Sheridan's Dutton Ranch still tops the charts, with rising viewership.
