Taylor Sheridan’s Most Controversial ‘Yellowstone’ Spin-Off Is Officially Cancelled

Collider · 3 hours ago

Taylor Sheridan has confirmed that the long-rumoured "6666" spin-off, based on the real Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, will not be made as a fictionalised television series. The project was first announced in 2022 following Sheridan's 2020 purchase of the ranch with a group of investors, and would have followed the character Jimmy Hurdstrom after his banishment from the Dutton family ranch in "Yellowstone." Its cancellation matters because it closes off one of the more anticipated branches of Sheridan's sprawling "Yellowstone" universe, even as other spin-offs, including the newly launched "Dutton Ranch," continue to thrive commercially for Paramount.

Speaking on the Rodeo Time podcast, Sheridan said he "would never fictionalise that ranch," dismissing earlier expectations that the show was still in development. He revealed that footage of Jimmy's storyline at the 6666 ranch already exists in edited form, describing it as forming "its own perfect little movie" charting the character's journey from misfit to respected cowboy, though he gave no indication this material would be released separately. The news follows a period of silence on the project since its initial announcement, with newer instalments in the franchise, spanning shows such as "1923" and "Marshals," taking priority instead.
