An insider report claims that Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone, has written a new Scottish-set drama titled The Laird, which would mark the first Sheridan series not predominantly set in the United States. The move is notable because Sheridan's hugely popular output — spanning Yellowstone, Landman, Tulsa King and others — has always been rooted in America, so a shift to British shores would break with a defining tradition for the writer.

The drama is said to explore historical links between Scotland and America, a theme already touched on in Yellowstone, whose Dutton family were revealed to have originated in the Scottish Highlands. The report references both 18th- and 19th-century Scottish emigration across the Atlantic and Scotland's darker involvement in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Filming is reportedly due to begin as early as later this month, with a 2027 release on Paramount+ being eyed. No official announcement has been made, and it remains unclear whether the project would be a standalone drama or a Yellowstone prequel or spin-off.
